The Organic Innovation Days 2023, TP Organics’ annual public event and the only EU event on organic and agroecological research and innovation, will take place in Brussels from 25 to 26 October under the title ‘Citizen-driven transformation of European food systems’. For this year’s edition, TP Organics is partnering with FoodSHIFT 2030, a Horizon 2020 project focused on transforming the European food system towards a low-carbon, circular future, including a shift to less meat and more plant-based diets.
Day 1, 25 October, from 10:00 to 15:00 at BluePoint Brussels, will focus on research and innovation (R&I) to guarantee long-term food security in Europe and globally, which depends on healthy soils and ecosystems. After a key-note by longstanding expert John Ingram setting the scene (where we are regarding food security, what are obstacles and options for change), a demonstration project to build up and maintain humus to sequester carbon and ensure climate-resilient agriculture will be showcased and discussed. During a high-level panel debate with representatives from the European Commission (DG AGRI and RTD) and a discussion with the audience, R&I needs and priorities will be identified that should be taken up by the European Commission in Work Programme 2025-2027. Download the agenda and also do not miss the launch of TP Organics’ new policy brief on organic and sustainable food security.
In the afternoon (from 14:00 to 16:00), after the official event and a networking lunch for all participants, the TP Organics Stakeholder Forum for members only will take place. It provides a unique opportunity for TP Organics Members to meet each other and discuss recent and future activities of TP Organics, policy developments at European level as well as the research needs of the organic sector. Make sure to register here to attend the Stakeholder Forum (separate registration form!).
On Day 2, 26 October, from 9:00 to 17:00 at Herman Teirlinck Building Brussels, the FoodSHIFT 2030 Final Policy Conference will take place, organised jointly with TP Organics and hosted by IFOAM Organics Europe. FoodSHIFT 2030 will present the results of the project through the lenses of the EU Farm to Fork Strategy and the FOOD 2030 Policy Framework. A series of debates with guest panelists will explore the “The path to sustainable food systems” while taking departure in the newly completed EU FOOD 2030 Project Family Policy Brief.
