According to ADEM, the Grand Duchy saw steady growth in employment in 2016. Salaried employment increased by 3.3% compared with the previous year, and unemployment fell by 4.6% over the same period. The reduction in unemployment seems to be sustained, since the trend has lasted for two years already.
More jobs for young people
The most significant drop revealed by ADEM’s report for 2016 is that of unemployment among the under-30s. This has fallen by 14% in the space of two years.
The strategy for finding jobs for those categories of people furthest from employment (young people, the long-term unemployed, older people) is visibly paying off. In 2016, six keys measures were adopted to help get these categories of unemployed people back into the employment market:
- development of new schemes and tools to help young people define their personal professional project;
- new system for profiling job-seekers;
- more training for job-seekers;
