The event was introduced by Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer, the Minister-President of the Saarland, and the representative of the Lorraine government, Brigitte Torloting, who expressed their strong commitment to support small and medium-sized enterprises in the transition towards industry 4.0.
This was followed by panel discussions focusing on the technological platforms and other resources available in the Greater Region to support companies in their industrial transformation. FANUC, one of the world leaders in robotics present in Luxembourg, provided an overview of their latest innovations aiming at supporting customers facing unprecedented technological developments linked to the digitalisation of the industry. Manufacturing technology experts from academia, called for more intensive cross-border, cross-sectorial cooperation as it is a proven powerful tool accelerating problem resolution.
Participants demonstrated a high level of interest for the B2B matchmaking organised by Enterprise Europe Network which fostered European networking and offered new collaboration opportunities.
Finally, visitors had the opportunity to visit the industrial sites of FORD, NEMAK, NEDSCHROEF, BENTELER and CARLSSON.
Next year’s June 2018 edition will take place in Luxembourg. The Automobility cluster together with its members is already working on an attractive programme showcasing among others the impact of digitalisation on mobility and associated technologies. No doubt next edition will capture the interest of large number of companies from the Greater Region and beyond.
