From the rocky Ardennes in the north with their numerous castles and picturesque villages to Schengen, the small wine-making village in the south-east known for the signature of the agreement abolishing border controls between 27 European countries, the fourth edition of Luxembourg’s “Vëlosummer” initiative offers cyclists a great variety of experiences. Why not tour the Little Switzerland region in the east, try out the family route in the old mining region in the south or explore the “Smugglers’ route” bordering Belgium in the west?

Vëlosummer 2023Four new circuits have been added compared to 2022, and on certain days, 114 km of roads are reserved for cyclists only. Two circuits offer cycling enthusiasts the opportunity to cross the Belgian and French borders. Signposting and road markings indicate the route to follow.

If it seems cumbersome to bike with all your luggage, the “Move we carry” baggage transport service offers cyclists the opportunity to have their belongings transported from one accommodation to another. If you don’t know where to stay, the certified “bed+bike” accommodations have free, locked bicycle rooms. Finally, if it seems complicated to bring your own bike from home, you can of course hire bikes either in “Rent a Bike” shops or directly on the “Vëlosummer 2023” routes, for instance in Echternach or Remich.
