By 2018, Luxembourg will acquire an HPC (High Performance Computer) with the power of one petaflop per second, which corresponds to 1,000,000,000,000,000 (one thousand trillion) calculations per second.
On March 23, 2017, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Economy Étienne Schneider, signed a declaration of European cooperation within the framework of the “High Performance Computing” (HPC) Collaboration between the signatory states (Germany, Spain, France, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Portugal) for the strategic purpose of setting up a European HPC network in which the Grand Duchy was the initiator.
