Artificial intelligence. Cybersecurity. Fintech. Sustainability. These key topics will take centre stage when Luxembourg’s tech community gathers for the inaugural of Nexus 2050. For international businesses seeking opportunities in Europe, Nexus 2050 offers valuable platform to explore partnerships with corporates, research organisations and innovation support entities in Luxembourg.

Symposium and trade fair

Nexus 2050 will function as both a symposium and a B2B trade fair. “We are expecting more than 5,000 participants, around a hundred exhibitors, 200 speakers on four stages, 200 startups and a whole series of side events,” says Mike Koedinger, co-founder of Nexus 2050, on the event website. “It’s a great showcase for Luxembourg’s tech and innovation ecosystem, and many public and private initiatives will be presented.”

The event will cover a range of topics, including the impact of AI on productivity and business, the future of the financial landscape through technology, innovation and leadership in marketing, and sustainable mobility. Distinguished speakers include H.R.H. the Hereditary Grand Duke of Luxembourg, Iliana Ivanova, Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth at the European Commission and several representatives of the Luxembourg government, alongside leading companies such as Google, Airbus Defence and Space, N26, Ferrero, Mangrove Capital Partners, and more.

Facilitating connections

Networking will be a key feature. The Go International Matchmaking Zone, hosted by the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, targets international companies looking to establish or expand their presence in the EU market, as well as Luxembourg-based companies aiming to broaden their international reach. Participants will receive specific support to set up effective and useful business meetings.

Startups in the spotlight

Nexus 2050 will place a special emphasis on startups. Around 200 startups from various tech sectors will showcase their innovations. They will have the opportunity to connect with investors, entrepreneurs, media and other industry professionals. Several of them will benefit from support provided by the Luxembourg Trade and Investment Offices and embassies to discover the Luxembourg ecosystem to better understand the Luxembourg ecosystem as they seek the right location for their next European offices. Exhibiting startups will also have the opportunity to pitch their solutions to the attendees.

Additionally, Nexus 2050 will host the Fit 4 Start Graduate Showcase, highlighting the achievements of the latest graduates from Luxembourg’s renowned startup acceleration programme. 20 startups from over 10 countries, selected among hundreds of applicants, will present their solutions after benefitting from six months of intense coaching. The graduation ceremony will be followed by a dedicated networking cocktail, providing a perfect opportunity for graduates, alumni, investors and other key stakeholders to forge new connections.
