The purpose of this study is to identify current trends in technological developments in the sector of automation, connectivity and digitalisation in commercial road transport; as well as to assess the potential impact of such developments on the EU legal framework.

This analysis should make it possible for the Commission to ensure that the EU legal instruments in place enable technological innovation while guaranteeing other important EU objectives, such as fair competition, good working conditions, road safety and sustainability.

The study therefore looks at the effects and impact of technological trends on the future of the EU legal framework, but also at how the current EU legislation could impact the deployment of new technologies.

Until 11 October, stakeholders are invited to give their views on the technologies under development and on the adequacy of current EU rules for the implementation of these technologies.

“We encourage the local ecosystem to contribute to this study as it is a great opportunity to put the Luxembourg priorities on the map,” comments Anthony Auert, the Manager of Luxinnovation’s Luxembourg AutoMobility Cluster.
